Art and Music with Seaweed

Today in ASAP we learned a song about growing kelp.  We will perform the song at our culminating event next week.  We also made seaweed sun prints and book marks to display at the event.  We also got to take a peek in the school freezer at the kelp we harvested and processed.  Photo journal entry below!

First we rehearsed the song “Let it Grow.”  We talked about LPAs and the DMR.

We learned hand motions and words.

We went to the basement. We placed seaweed on special paper. We did it in the dark so it could be set before we went to the light.

Erin sprayed the paper with water.

Here is the final product.

We made bookmarks with card stock and tape and seaweed. We put tape over a hole in the cardstock, put seaweed on the tape, and put another piece of tape over the whole thing.

At the very end of ASAP we went to check on the kelp we froze a few weeks ago.  We get to eat it next week!
